Los Angeles emcee Kev Hicks celebrated the 50th anniversary of the The Black Panther party with the release of “Huey.” Named after the party’s co-founder, Huey P. Newton, the track addresses many social injustices taking place today.
“The ‘Huey’ track came about as we’ve all sat and watched what has been happening socially & economically in the urban community across the country,” Hicks says. “It’s no mystery. It’s everyday news. But it seems like most artists are scared to discuss it, or advised not to.”
