When South Philadelphia’s Most wanted blazed on the scene back in 2000 I was one of the first cats to do a full feature on them. “Cross The Border” was a first single banger from that disc that just was not pushed right. I was highly disappointed when Get Down Or Lay Down finally dropped because the album had been revamped so much that in my opinion, it caused lackluster sales for their debut CD. Proving that in most cases the original blueprint is the best.
Well now we are in 2004 and PMW is back but the moniker has officially been changed to Philly’s Most. Ring The Alarm is the sophomore effort as well as the first single. Gone is production from the Neptunes and the guest appearances from the Clipse and others, but don’t sleep people. I still feel some deep-rooted shit in my blood for these niggas and the disc is not bad.
MR. and Boobonic still spit fire and move a crowd, so ya’ll better listen. They also did the gangsta shit of the day and only put 12 tracks on the disc. They come through on sure-fire bangers like “Dust Ya Boots” over some banjo strumming bounce rhythms. Speedy Gonzalez like flows cover the track as well.
“Away From Here” featuring Philly native Black Thought is also a lyrical display of these young’ns abilities. They shine with the monster of poetic thoughts, Black Thought, with ease.

On “My Baby” Boo and Mr. bless their shorties for having their seeds and promise to make sure that seeds and babies mamas will be all right no matter what crazy shit they do.
Featured once again is Pretty Tony the Pimp on some funny ass skits. Production is done solely by Philly’s Most and Kedar Massenburg. Now that’s a move in the right direction for these cats because quiet as it shouldn’t be kept, this duo has the skills to do it all themselves. Stand up and listen because hopefully Universal will keep the ball in play unlike Atlantic did for PMW.
I’m still ridin’ wit ya’ll. Scream at me.
