It’s time for you to let the backpacks air out and put on your dancing shoes, cause Foreign Legion is taking indy kids to the clubs. Remember back when Slum Village came out and they freaked everyone with underground beats and “typical commercial” rhymes? Well this is just like that, only the other way around (plus no one is here is Dilla with all due). Foreign Legion is comprised of Prozack, Marc Stretch and DJ Design.

Much like their 2000 debut “Kidnapper Van: Beats To Rock While Bike Stealin,'” the Northern Cali trio has made “Playtight” nothing but fun. Organ stabs kick start the album on “Here We Go Again” and the party never really stops. Through the flutes of “It’s Working” to undeniably catchy “Champagne Thoughts.” The closer “Roomate Joint” has gotta be the funniest song here, cause it’s all so true.

It isn’t all floppy shoes and red noses though. “How Do It Feel” is not light-hearted by any means and is among the best songs on here. There are points where the playing isn’t so tight. FL has a bit of trouble with their hooks and some really obnoxious one’s surface (see “Happy Drunk,” “Party Crashers” and “Nasty Lady”), and some of beats just don’t make it happen (“Y’all Ain’t Ready”). FL is certainly a welcome change of pace, it isn’t often that you hear a club-ready indy group with great rhymes to boot.
