It’s a pleasure that Dead Prez can still ignite some angry stand up for your rights shit in a nigga after the platinum invasion has blinded many from the masses. Their latest release flips the title from 50’s debut and instead of getting rich, Dead Prez urges us to Get Free Or Die Trying. The Intro of the disc is a smooth skit right out of some old Supafly type movie scene. But it reeks of rebels. “F the Law” is an angry stand up approach to everything that the law encompasses. Dead Prez hold back no anger in telling the world the bang for freedom, burn the prisons, slap your landlord, burn the precient, ride on record labels, slap a white boy etc. The hook is blazing and really does make one thing about the real meaning of revolution. It may be very real but how many cats are really living for Black power in the new millennium? Enough to keep Dead Prez getting respect on the streets.
“Coming Of Age” is a piano and keyboard driven banger that tells the story of coming of age as a youth in the ghetto. It’s very descriptive and realistic. And brings one right into the mindset of the artists as the music was being made. You can hear and feel the realness in the voices of the duo.
“Paper Paper” is a dirty south bounce jumpoff. Its amazing how Dead Prez can make u wanna dance and preach the betterment of a race at the same time. Very few artists can spark that type of desire in people. People need to stop sleeping on these cats.
“Last Days Reloaded” is just what you think it is. A reloaded version of the Onyx Hit “The Last Days” and it features Onyx also. Other hot joints on the disc include “White House Is The Rock House,” “When Mama Cries” and “I ain’t Scared To Die.” Stand up and be accounted for. Dead Prez has the ability to make one ask them self, What will I die for? Well if you don’t have an answer you had better get one, unless you plan on dying for anything. That is not a good look. Listen and learn.
