When “The Most Beautifullest Thing In This World” dropped back in 1994 Keith Murray swarmed on the scene from Long Island NY as a part of the now defunct Hit Squad. The squad consisted of EPMD, Redman, K-Solo and Keith. The lyrical Lexicon had been born. He kicked in the door with a style all his own. Keith‘s hard verbal linguistics made many an emcee upgrade their notes just to compete. Now that’s what Hip Hop is all about. Keith hit us in the head and scored a Gold debut album with the title track as well as “Get Lifted.” His 1996 follow up Enigma didn’t do as well but gave us the hit “The Rhyme.”
Now with a new powerhouse label in Def Jam behind his as well as a 3-year stint in prison behind him Keith has returned to claim his spot once again. Can he do it? Well if the first single “Yeah Yeah You Know It,” produced by Just Blaze, off of Keith‘s new disc titled He’s Keith Murray is of any notation, the streets say yes he can do it. Not only is the first single a banger, but Keith has paved his way for his second run at the top classmen by shining on FUBU‘s “Fatty Girl” and P Diddy‘s remix of “Special Delivery.”
Keith‘s focus now is his new release with tracks like “Child of the Streets”, “Oh My Goodness” and the smoothed out “Candi Bar.” He’s also enlisted the help of a very select few artists because as he says, “I’m here to reinforce my existence in this game.” However the album showcases joints with Busta Rhymes his child hood cronies LOD and his Def Squad kikos. Production by some of the industries best include work from Jazze Pha, Just Blaze, Clark Kent, Trackmasters, Pete Rock, Khalil and Erick Sermon of course. Keith‘s sole mission with this album is to let the world know that he is Keith Murray and what he stands for. Pure Hip Hop. Cop it and support the Brothers return.
