When you have had a groundbreaking group like Tribe, it’s virtually impossible not to put out a greatest hit album. First of all, the masses need to be reminded of original Hip-Hop. Secondly, the executives know how to start the campaign to push a group back into the spotlight.

Hits Rarities & Remixes is filled with tribe classics that spawned the eccentricity and militancy of the early 90’s. It starts out with “Oh My God” and then takes you on an “Award Tour” through some “One, Two Shit” featuring Busta Rhymes. For all true Hip-Hop heads, this disc will leave you smiling and remembering back to the days of when the art form was as pure as it has ever been. Classics like “Electric Relaxation,” “I Left My Wallet In El Segundo,” Check The Rhime,” and “Lyrics To Go” all conjure up thoughts and feelings that sometimes make you feel like you can change the World, or at least your own surroundings to reflect something as pure as the music.

For all of the old heads, you’ll remember how DJ Red Alert played so many Promos for Tribe in the 90’s, that when they finally dropped El Segundo and “Bonita Applebaum,’ the land was stuck on this extension of the Daisy Age that De La Soul started. Eventually the age turned into the Native Tounges and the rest, as they say, is history. The hope is kept alive with the thoughts of a Native Tounge reunion, which would be a sell out tour on any level. “Can I Kick It” still sounds as fresh as it did from day one. And “Jazz (We’ve Got)” still sounds inticing as well as intriguing. The all time Tribe Classic “Scenario” which boosted Busta Rhymes on his route towards super stardom still makes you wanna go out to a party and just wild out and have crazy fun.

This is a must have for any true Hip Hoppers collection. Don’t dis yourself by not copping it.
