Remember that emcee Beyond that the highly underrated “Comparison” in ’96? He was part of Rhymesayers and was all over the Headshots tapes. He just kind of disappeared didn’t he? Well, not really, he became Musab. The name wasn’t the only transformation though; Beyond was the type of emcee that you’d expect to hear on Rhymesayers, he fit in with Slug, Gene Pool and Tracksmart on those tapes. Musab, however, well, he’s a pimp.

That may be a bit extreme. He does have quite a few songs revolving around penetrating the female species. See “Posin” and the very dope “Extravagant.” Is is obvious that Musab has been through a lot since his last album. And he has some thoughtful, eye-opening songs to prove it. None are better than “Falling Apart,” to which Ant lends an incredible beat. Other tracks in that breath are “Cut Throat” and “The Reckoning,” both of which deal with his family life.

Musab is a good emcee, he rhymes well, and with notable self-assurance. The strength of this LP lies in the production though, which is not a knock to Musab but a credit to the great beatmakers. The majority of the beats are handled by fellow Rhymesayers Ant and the talented Brother Ali. It is Ant who steals the show, check his incredible diversity going from the ill mid-west bounce on “In My World” to his sound bwoy impression on “Fool’s Paradise” to the oriental flavored “Falling Apart.” Respect the album.
