There are not many ways to better than a mixtape to create a buzz for an artist. Whether it is 16 bars off the dome over another rappers beat or a hot new 12″, nothing gets me amped like a good mixtape. ‘Good’ is the operative word though, some DJ’s know how to do it and some don’t. DJ Andrew Unknown and DJ Mekalek fall under former. Not only is “Ain’t No Love” loaded with dope artists, it is put together by Unknown and Mekalek with precise expertise. Each song is seamlessly blended together with tight scratches and flowing mixes. What’s better is that this is all exclusive material, you won’t find this shit anywhere else.
47 artists come together on “Ain’t No Love,” rhyming over some of your favorite beats. The Rhyme Inspector, Percee P and Rok One team up to rip over “C.R.E.A.M.” and “T.O.N.Y.” respectively, on the aptly titled, “T.O.N.Y.C.R.E.A.M.” Ever wonder what it would sound like if J-Zone, Hug and Al-Shid’s minds were playing tricks on them? It sounds dope. Al-Shid pops up again though, this time teamed with Mike Zoot and Punchline as they bless the diggity Das-Efx’s “Real Hip Hop.” Life-Long and Mr. Complex sound like a long-time group rocking over some Large Pro beats. You see where this is going now? Dope beats of yesteryear being blessed by dope emcees of today, in combinations you thought you’d never hear.
Really, if you’re a hip hop head, what else do you need? Take a look at this line-up; Apathy, Rise, Celph-Titled, Esoteric, C-Rayz Walz, Punch & Words, Akrobatik, Mr. Complex, Masta Ace, Ruck, Rock, Cocoa B’z, Buckshot, Percee P, J-Zone, Al-Shid, Hug, Breez Evahflowin, J-Trends, Breezly Brewin, Graph…the list goes on. If you aren’t adding this CD to your “to get” list, then I guess there ain’t no love. However, I suggest that you show some, pick this up.
