Soulja Boy isn’t letting go of J. Cole’s recent comments about initially scoffing at the internet sensation’s music.

During an appearance on Lil Yachty‘s A Safe Place podcast on Thursday (November 1), the Dreamville boss reflected on what he first thought of the Atlanta rapper during the latter’s come-up. Though Cole admitted to eventually coming around to his work, the “Crank Dat” hitmaker isn’t the least bit pleased with what he heard.

In a second tweet, he continued: “Just know your signed to a 360 deal and get 20% of your money. I own my label and get 100% of EVERYTHING @JColeNC stay in your lane you an industry puppet [100 emoji].

The conversation about Soulja Boy began with Cole telling Yachty how he has humbled his outlook over the years. In doing so, he even reflected on how he used to be uppity about what Hip Hop should be rather than what it was turning into.

“Around the time Soulja Boy came out, I don’t know how this happened but I had a realization within myself ’cause I’m hearing that shit and I’m like, ‘Man this shit, Soulja Boy tell em,” he began. “Sounds crazy to say now ’cause it’s such a classic to me, but at that time, I had resistance. Similar to when you came out and your class came out, I had resistance.”

He went on: “‘Nah that’s not the thing that I love. Like what? Y’all fucking with this?’ I was one of them. But there was a part of me that had a realization. I was proud of myself for this realization. So I was like, ‘Bruh, you a hater. Like yo, you are literally hating. You know you like this shit.’”

Soon after the episode went live, Soulja Boy took to Twitter and wrote: “N-ggaz always hated on me nothing new. Him and big sean was on some hating shit. But fuck them im still lit [fire emoji].”
