Snoop took to Instagram on Wednesday (April 19) to debut the Doggystyle: The 4/20 Vinyl Box Set, which was inspired by the rapper’s 1993 debut studio album of the same name and arrives on its 30th anniversary.

“I bought my first album at 11 years old, with my allowance money. That album was Doggystyle. I was so worried about how explicit the cover was, that I hid it in my bedroom so my parents wouldn’t see it,” Jackson said in a statement.
“The album’s music and its provocative cover left an indelible stamp on how I view Hip Hop. It is with profound pleasure that we are now partnering with Death Row Records, the greatest Hip Hop catalog of all time, and with my dear friend Snoop.”
The rapper acquired Death Row Records in February 2022, roughly 30 years after joining the West Coast powerhouse as one of its star acts. He purchased the label from MNRK Music Group (formerly eOne Music) for an undisclosed sum, with the aim of revitalizing the brand amid concerns over how it was being managed.
“I am thrilled and appreciative of the opportunity to acquire the iconic and culturally significant Death Row Records brand, which has immense untapped future value,” Snoop said in a statement at the time.
“It feels good to have ownership of the label I was part of at the beginning of my career and as one of the founding members. This is an extremely meaningful moment for me.”
It’s not just Snoop Dogg celebrating 4/20 in a creative way, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony‘s Layzie Bone released an updated version of his annual Smoke With Me mixtape via his own Harmony Howse Entertainment imprint.
According to a press release, all of the tracks on the mixtape were about “marijuana and [will] feature a melodic tone that is sure to entice any listener to partake in their favorite 4/20 festivities.”
