Slum Village and Larry June have connected for a new song called “Just Like You,” which also features the Detroit soul group The Dramatics.
The funk-infused track will appear on the group’s forthcoming album, which is now a duo that includes rapper T3 and producer Young RJ. The tape is reportedly due out sometime in August and would serve as the follow-up to 2016’s Vol. 0, which was mostly comprised of old demos and unreleased J Dilla beats.

On the track, Larry June spits about a new-found love interest and admits he’s just waiting for a reason to pull up for the night.
“It’s really nice to meet you, looking so good I had to greet you, look at the beaches, you must be peaking/What you doing this evening? Cause I could scoop you just give me a reason,” Larry raps.

Slum Village had previously appeared on “Orange Village,” off Larry June and The Alchemist’s collaborative album The Great Escape,which dropped on March 31. The album also features appearances from Joey Bada$$, Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean, Curren$y, Action Bronson, Ty Dolla $ign, Boldy James, Evidence and Jay Worthy.
Al and Larry had previously worked together on “Breakfast In Monaco,” from Larry’s last album Spaceships on the Blade, which arrived in August 2022.
In a review of the latter, HipHopDX‘s Dash Lewis called Spaceships on the Blade “the most quintessential expression of [June’s] sound.”
“It’s a 20-song, 53-minute album that never feels like a slog, as all of his experiments lock into place: he plays with Eazy-E’s ‘Boyz-N-The-Hood’ flow; he sings like a more emotionally available Nate Dogg; he raps about green juice and guns with equal reverence; he mixes screwed down tempos with nervy Vallejo bounce,” the review continued.

Al also had a busy year in 2022, releasing joint efforts with Roc Marciano (The Elephant Man’s Bones) and Curren$y (Continuation) while also contributing to Benny The Butcher’s Tana Talk 4, Freddie Gibbs’ $$$ and Earl Sweatshirt’s Sick!, among other projects.
The duo most recently dropped off the music video to their song “Solid Plan,” which features Action Bronson.
