Rappers from Cali have had an extremely prosperous year.
Not only did Kendrick Lamar dominate the year thanks to his epic victory over Drake in their beef and the success of “Not Like Us,” but many of his contemporaries dropped successful albums, too.

Kendrick’s onetime Top Dawg Entertainment labelmate ScHoolboy Q released Blue Lips in March, which peaked at number 13 on the Billboard 200.
Vince Staples released Dark Times back in May, and that album also broke through the top 75 on the Billboard 200.

Tyler the Creator‘s Chromakopia is poised to make a big splash on next week’s Billboard 200 chart.
Despite it having a shorter tracking window due to it being released on Monday instead of the previous Friday, the album is expected to cruise to number one with the biggest first-week sales of his career.

According to HITS Daily Double, Chromakopia is on track to earn least 250,000 equivalent units in its opening week, with it being estimated that the number could go as high as 300,000 before final numbers are tallied.
As it stands, Tyler would top the Billboard 200 by a large margin ahead of Halsey’s new album The Great Impersonator, which is projected to move around 90,000 units.
Last we heard from Roddy was back in June when he put his proverbial cape on to save women from multiple disasters including an oncoming train and a burning house in the music video for his latest song, “911.”
Released as a follow-up to May’s well-received “Survivors Remorse” and amid the hype from his performance at Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Pop Out’, Roddy kept the momentum going with “911.” It’s unclear if the releases will be featured on The Navy Album.
