Lil Tjay bared his scars for all to see while performing in New Jersey for the first time since being shot during an attempted robbery in the state last summer.

The Bronx-bred rapper was hospitalized back in June after he was shot multiple times while sitting in his car outside a Chipotle restaurant in Edgewater. The 21-year-old was rushed into emergency surgery, where he was reported to have been unconscious and breathing through a tube for a few days.

Tjay ultimately recovered, taking to social media in August to say that while things were “tough,” he would come back and be “stronger than ever.”

Lil Tjay’s sentiment proved to be true during a lively show at The Wellmont Theater in Montclair last week, where the “Calling My Phone” rapper took off his shirt to flex the seven scars on his ribs, chest and torso.

“BACK IN JERSEY,” he wrote on Instagram while sharing photos from his comeback performance.

Three suspects were taken into custody in connection with the attempted robbery, with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office claiming in a statement that 27-year-old Mohamed Konate was the trigger man. Konate allegedly shot Tjay multiple times, while one of Tjay’s friends was shot once.

The rapper was struck in the thoracic cavity, which is the area that holds the rib cage, the heart, lungs, esophagus and other vital organs.

Mohamad Konate has been charged with three counts of first-degree attempted murder, while the other two suspects have been arrested and charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.

While donning a neckbrace, Lil Tjay said in an Instagram post after the shooting that he was just happy to be alive.

“Hey what’s going on y’all?” he said. “I’m just checking in with y’all. I just wanna say, thanks for the love, thanks for the support. I’ve been looking at the DM’s, seeing the comments and everything else and I feel love.”

He continued: “Seven shots it was tough you know, most people don’t survive it but I’m here. Here for a reason and new music coming soon, we’re gonna come back stronger than ever. Love y’all.”
