“We’re dropping more music and, of course, finishing the Metro project,” he said, referencing his joint album with the super-producer.
The 33-year-old also revealed he plans on writing a children’s book: “It’s called Astrid the Ostrich, an African Bird. I’m still working on it, but it’s just about emotions that a child would go through and I’m doing it my type of way. It’s going to be cool.”
In another major TV moment, JID performed “Surround Sound” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon earlier this week, marking his second appearance on the late-night spot.
Both appearances come on the heels of the rapper receiving a boost from the virality of social media trends, resulting in the aforementioned track becoming a chart-topper.
Last month, the Atlanta native’s collaboration with 21 Savage and Baby Tate — taken from his album The Forever Story — soared to No. 1 on Billboard’s TikTok Top 50 chart, almost two years after its initial release.
The Aretha Franklin-sampling song gained a lot of traction on the platform thanks to the “Booty Ceiling Challenge,” a trend which sees TikTok users taping their phones to a ceiling object to capture the best angle and proceeding to twerk.
