After being featured on hit tracks such as “We Major” from Kanye West‘s sophomore album, Late Registration [click to read], and Consequence‘s “Disperse” off his 2007 album, Don’t Quit Your Day Job [click to read], Chicago native emcee Really DOE, is embarking on his career as a solo artist with his debut album, First Impressions.
Currently signed to Cartel Records, owned and operated by Kanye West‘s marketing director Griffin Guess, the highly anticipated album was released exclusively through iTunes and at Best Buy retail locations on August 18. First Impressions, which was also produced by Guess, includes “Plastic” featuring Kanye West and “Mesmerized” featuring up and coming artist Danny Klein.
Ranging from politics to personal struggles faced while growing up in the windy city, First Impressions touches on a variety of issues to which listeners can relate. On Really DOE‘s MySpace Music page, Guess was quoted as saying “Really DOE‘s lyrical ability and thought process in how he composes each verse and hook is something I have never heard,” he continued, “Really DOE offers an authentically diverse landscape to the movement of Hip Hop.“
Prior to First Impressions, Really DOE was signed to G.O.O.D. Music in 2005 and a member of the mid-’90s group, Go Getters which included Kanye West and G.O.O.D. Music label mate GLC.
