Last Wednesday Damon Dash, CEO of Roc-A-Fella Records hosted a listening party at Right Track Studios in Midtown Manhattan for Cam’ron’s latest album “Come Home With Me,” due out May 14th.
Dame explained that he likes to play his artists music himself so he can give a little history behind the tracks and clear up any rumors, then he previewed about two verses each from 14 tracks plus an intro. Dash also gave a brief history of his relationship with Cam: They grew up near each other, practically on the same block in Spanish Harlem and have remained close throughout Cam’s career. When Cam decided he wanted to bounce from Epic, Dash brought him to The Roc. Dash complimented Cam’s work ethic and skills, boasting that Cam has the same star qualities as his label mates, Jay-Z, Beanie Sigel, Memphis Bleek and Freeway.
Production on “Come Home With Me” is handled mostly by Ty Fyffe and Just Blaze, with additional tracks by Kanye West and others. Cam’s click The Diplomats, including Juelz Sanatana, appear on many of the tracks and they are currently recording an album under Cam’s own label, Diplomat Records which just signed with Roc-A-Fella. Cam’s also working on an album with his other crew, Taliban who also hail from Harlem.
Cam’s first two singles, ‘Oh Boy’ with Juelz Santana and ‘The Roc’ featuring Memphis Bleek and Beanie Sigel from “Come Home With Me” are already radio and club hits. ‘Leave Me Alone’ is set to drop next. Plus check for a track with Jay-Z on Cam’s album and the Damon Dash-produced movie, “Paid In Full” due out September 14 which stars Cam.
