Sean “Diddy” Combs will resume his acting efforts by appearing on the CBS crime drama CSI: Miami. Combs is set to play a federal prosecutor opposite David Caruso‘s character Horatio Cane. The Associated Press reports Diddy has signed on for two episodes, both of which will air during the early portion of 2009.
The role will be the first since Combs‘ turn as Walter Lee Younger in the television adaptation of Lorraine Hansberry‘s A Raisin in the Sun. The broadcast, which Combs also executive produced, drew in 12 million viewers and became one of ABC‘s highest-rated programs.
The latest cameo spot continues a tradition of including Hip Hop artists for the CSI franchise. Xzibit played the role of rapper Dwayne “10 Large” Jackman during a 2004 episode entitled “Rap Sheet.” Nelly also signed on for a multi-episode appearance on the program’s sister show, CSI: New York. Nelly will play the role of Terrance Davis on the episodes “My Name is Mac Taylor,” which airs tonight and “Turbulence,” which airs November 26.
