Lil Wayne has rock star aspirations, and Kid Rock is a former emcee turned rock artist. The two genres were merged Wednesday night, when both artists performed Kid Rock‘s “All Summer Long” at the Country Music Awards.

Avoiding forced Hip Hop/Country collaborations such as Nelly and Tim McGraw‘s “Over and Over,” Wayne didn’t rap at all. The current owner of the 2008’s best-selling album, Tha Carter III [click to read] merely played the background while strumming his guitar. The pair even donned matching Tennessee Titans jerseys.

While he is most known for rock ballads, Kid Rock‘s debut, Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast, featured him rapping over production from his Jive Records labelmates Too Short and D-Nice. He has also toured with Rev. Run of Run-DMC. Kid Rock and Lil Wayne previously shared the stage during the MTV Video Music Awards in September.
