Russell Simmons brought together mortgage consultants and Hip Hop stars this past Friday for the Hip Hop Summit at Clark Atlanta University. Ludacris, Yung Joc, and Kevin Liles were among the music industry participants. The summit focused on the importance of home ownership, with Simmons stressing the idea that the time to buy a home is now—despite the slump in the economy. “There are opportunities out there, but people just don’t know about it,”Simmons told the Associated Press. “With financial stability, it’s a great time to buy when it’s low. It’ll pick back up in the long run.” Students who attended the summit took home a booklet about home ownership, maintaining good credit and first time home buying. The event was held in conjunction with the BET Hip Hop Awards.
