When Jay-Z starts recording an album rumors usually follow, and it appears the upcoming Blueprint 3 will be no different. News that Timbaland would be the project’s sole producer [click to read] was proved false after Kanye West and Jay debuted “Jockin’ Jay-Z (Dope Boy Fresh)” during a Glow in the Dark tour stop in New York City.
Fellow Chicago native No I.D. has added his name to the list of potential beatsmith’s for the latest installment in Jay-Z‘s Blueprint series. Members of Kanye‘s management team say West and the veteran producer, who has also worked with Common, Jermaine Dupri and mentored West, are both “hard at work making tracks for Blueprint 3.”
Should No I.D. make the cut, it would be familiar territory. He shares production credit on “Success” from Jay-Z‘s American Gangster album, and also produced “All Around the World” from 2002’s Blueprint 2: The Gift & the Curse. While this is expected to be Jay-Z‘s last Def Jam album before he begins his new deal with Live Nation, no one from Island/Def Jam or Roc-A-Fella has confirmed a release date.
