While Rhymefest
readies his upcoming album, El Che,
for a 2008 release; the Chi-town emcee
will be dropping a video for a song entitled Stolen next Tuesday (August 12).

While the title of the track might suggest the song being
about Fest’s recent situation where
his iPod was stolen and the thief has threatened to leak a track a week until
the album is put out [click to read]. Rhymefest
assures it’s much more than that and warns fans to watch with a different mind:

“I just wanted to let
everyone know that this is a song and a video that needs to be viewed with a
bit of perspective. First of all: dumb ass niggas that can’t think past the
club, the block or a fat booty bitches, DO NOT WATCH THIS! Your brain will
explode. Seconds, self-righteous hip hop nerds who expect to hear me go line
for line in a metaphorical circus, DO NOT WATCH THIS! You will be solely disappointed,”

Rhymefest says.

Fest continues to speak on the social awareness exposed in
the video:

“For those who
appreciate music with both soul and social commentary, this video will offer an
intriguing look into the lives of people who suffer from genocide, starvation
and war. It was very important for me to make this song after my travels to
London where I had an opportunity to speak to a former child soldier from
Sierra Leone,”
Fest continues.

“In an industry that
is dominated by the replication of whatever the last club banger was, this song
and video from unadulterated inspiration provided by the trials of life.”

Stay tuned to HipHopDX as well will drop the No ID produced and Konee Rok directed video for Stolen next week!
