Pusha T made a bold claim on the It’s Almost Dry stand-out track “Neck & Wrist” featuring JAY-Z, where he disowned “Cartier bust downs,” and it looks like his peers are taking notice.

During an on-camera segment for his cover story with GQ, Quavo revealed he’s giving up iced-out watches in exchange for regular “Plain Janes.” For those that don’t know, putting diamonds on a watch decreases its value and is pretty much worth nothing compared to timepieces with no jewels. Quavo explained during the segment that owning a Plain Jane is a great investment.

“These are my houses, aka my watches. I feel like they’re real estate, and I got to have them with me, and I can’t go nowhere without a few Plain Janes on me,” Quavo said. “They kind of like real estate. These are like mini houses that just go up in value. I don’t buy bust downs no more because it don’t make any sense.”

He continued, “It’s kind of like taking a lambo and just taking the roof off it and just depreciating your car. I got a good relationship with the people that sell these watches, which is [Audemar Piguet], and I just go in there and get them out the store just like I’m buying shoes. Not a lot of people can do that.”

It’s interesting to see rappers giving up diamonds for more luxurious pieces, given that iced-out jewelry has become a cornerstone in Hip Hop. Quavo isn’t the first to travel with his rare collection of watches, either.
