R. Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison in a New York federal court on Wednesday (June 29) after being convicted of sex trafficking and racketeering charges last September. Judge Ann Donnelly’s sentence was welcomed by his victims, with one woman who was sexually abused by the R&B singer when she was 17 years old calling it a “special but hard day.” But not everyone is happy with the decision.

The always outspoken (if not controversial) Boosie Badazz took to social media on Thursday (June 30) to share his dismay at R. Kelly’s 30-year sentence, which theoretically could see him spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Here's Potentially Why R. Kelly Got 30 Years In Prison While Epstein Associate Ghislaine Maxwell Got 20

The Baton Rouge rapper admitted the disgraced singer was “wrong” for what he did and deserves to serve time behind bars, but argued his crimes don’t warrant such a lengthy term. He also called for Kelly to receive treatment in the hopes of one day educating young girls about sexual predators.

“People getting 15/20 years for murder n he get 30!!” he tweeted. “Yes he was wrong af for manipulating young girls n sexing them but he didn’t kill anyone, aggravated rape anyone .N no blame on the parents who knew everything. Resentence this man!! College professors get probation for this shit.

“Get this man some help n some jail time but don’t give him a death sentence ,30 years !!Maybe he can one get out one day n warn these young girls about older predators n make a difference ?but 30 years like Come on world!!”

Boosie even pointed the finger at the parents of R. Kelly’s victims, posting a screenshot of a court document alleging one 17-year-old girl’s mother “engineered [her] relationship” with the singer and “actively misled [him] about her age.”

In a video posted on his Instagram page, Boosie Badazz doubled down on his support for the “Bump n’ Grind” crooner by blasting his music on a boat while bemoaning his prison sentence.

“They gave my boy Kelly 30, man. Fuck!” he said while singing along to “When a Woman Loves.” “Can’t take this away from them, though. That n-gga the truth, man … I don’t wanna see no n-gga down. That n-gga knew something, man.”

He added in the caption, “U was my boy I ain’t changing #freekells best ever dude got 30 n ain’t nobody go say Free him smh u know how many people was made to his music frfr.”

While Boosie Badazz’s comments are likely to cause controversy, his calls for R. Kelly to be rehabilitated are already proving to be somewhat accurate. TMZ reported on Friday (July 1) the 55-year-old has been ordered to receive mental health treatment upon his release.

Kelly’s treatment will include therapy for an unspecified sexual disorder, and he must avoid all contact with anyone under the age of 18 (unless it’s a family member or in a therapeutic setting with a “responsible adult” present). Additionally, he must inform anyone choosing to live with him that he is a sex offender.
