DJ Drama and Tha Dogg Pound are gearing up to release an as-yet-untitled “Gangsta Grillz” mixtape. Those who visit the HipHopDX audio section regularly have already heard the “Half A Mil Freestyle,” [click to hear…] which finds Daz and Kurupt taking turns over an instrumental of Kanye West‘s “Big Brother.” Drama recently spoke to HipHopDX about the unlikely pairing.
“Maintaining [relationships] is a no-brainer at this point, because we’ve all come so far,”Drama says. “Those relationships are grand because we all came up together. It’s storybook Hip Hop. You’ve heard it a million times and you’ve seen it through every era, so it’s funny that I’m living it. I’m living proof of what happens when people come together.”
The DPG‘s tell MTV that the upcoming “Gangsta Grillz” will be just one of many projects they plan on releasing during 2008. The full length album West Coast Aftershock will follow as well as an additional solo project by Kurupt entitled Niggerace Presents: Kurupt the Kingpin. Daz and Kurupt will also be adding to their acting resumes. Kurupt can currently be found playing TJ Greene in the drama Vice, while Daz is planning to release the straight-to-DVD film Make It Rain.
