Wu-Tang is coming to Fortnite, but not in the way fans might think.
While the legendary rap group won’t serve as playable characters in the hit video game, players will be able to purchase Wu-Tang merch in the game’s item shop beginning on April 23rd at 8 p.m. ET. Two different outfits will be available, along with accessories like reactive backpacks featuring Wu-Tang’s signature hand emote.
“Fortnite has been in my household for years,” legendary Wu-Tang member RZA said in a statement. “It’s been a pleasure and joy watching the game evolve, while becoming the go-to pastime. This collaboration is a multigenerational ‘drip’ of swag and cool. If what you say is true, Fortnite and Wu-Tang could be Fortangerous…”

Wu-Tang’s entry into Fortnite is the latest instance of musical artists making their way into the digital world. The game has previously housed in-game concerts from Ariana Grande and Travis Scott and even featured a Coachella crossover. An estimated 12.3 million Fortnite players tuned in for Scott’s “Astronomical” concert, shattering the streaming record for the game.
Prior to Scott, the record was held by EDM DJ Marshmello, who gave an in-game concert to 10.7 million fans in February 2019. Scott used the Fortnite stage to debut his hit “Sicko Mode,” as well as his Kid Cudi-collab “The Scotts,” with a lot of fans tuning in as a result of the pandemic’s stay-at-home quarantine orders.
