MJG, who serves as half of the acclaimed duo 8Ball & MJG, is preparing to release his first solo effort in over a decade. This Might Be the Day will serve as MJG’s official follow up to 1997’s No More Glory. The album, which features the lead single “Shades,” will be released July 1 on 404 Music, and also has appearances from 8Ball, Gucci Mane and others.
An album entitled Pimp Tight was also released April 29 on the Sacramento based, independent label Real Talk Entertainment. However, 404 Music‘s president and CEO Nina K. Easton maintains that This Might Be the Day is the official solo album, as it is the only one of the albums to be released in conjunction with MJG Muzik.
Either way, the album will serve as the third release featuring 8Ball & MJG within the last two months. Suave House partnered with Koch Records to release We Are the South (Greatest Hits) on May 13. In hopes of preventing fans from becoming confused by the three different releases on three different labels, free audio streams are being provided on MJG‘s MySpace page.
