Senator Barack Obama‘s support from various sections of the Hip Hop community was capped off Tuesday by a commanding victory in the North Carolina primary and a narrow loss in Indiana’s primary. Interestingly enough, Obama‘s addition of pledged delegates came on the same day when two more Hip Hop artists showed their support for the man who appears to be the next Democratic Party presidential nominee.
On Tuesday, will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas won a Webby award for Artist of the Year for his “Yes We Can” video. The four-and-a-half minute clip features various celebrity appearances mixed with footage from Sen. Obmama‘s speech from the New Hampshire primary. Since debuting on Dipdive.com in February, the video has been viewed over 17 million times. The Webby‘s, which are widely regarded as the top form of recognition for online media, will honor will.i.am during one of their two ceremonies in New York City June 9-10.
Taz Arnold, of the group Sa-Ra Creative Partners also introduced his “Vote Obama” video directly to the web on Monday, May 5. The video is the first solo effort from Arnold, who also records under the moniker T.I.$.A.Kidz In The Hall, Common and ?uestlove of The Roots have all also publicly supported Obama through their music or direct involvement in his campaign.
