Busta Rhymes‘ legal troubles have been on display for the world to see for the last two years, and most have even been chronicled on this very site. And while it has always been understood that legal proceedings involving adults are part of the public record, and therefore fair game for reporters, Busta has taken exception with how his recent troubles were portrayed in the March issue of Vibe. With Busta‘s feelings being made known via his recent interview with Hot 97‘s DJ Enuff, and Vibe releasing the full article [click to read…] on its website, the issue of Busta‘s coverage will now move to the court of public opinion.

“They’ve got an unnecessarily, unexplainable, no sense making six page spread against a nigga,” says Busta in the aforementioned clip, which was posted to virtually every viral video outlet on April 10. “It just seems like a constant, conscious effort that’s been made to defamate [sic] a nigga’s character. It’s really nothing that I have to talk about, but it’s something that I don’t have a problem talking about. I don’t lose sleep because I’m not guilty of anything.”

The article in question is “What’s the Scenario,” which was written by Laura Checkoway. The article chronicles Busta from his early days as a member of Leaders of the New School, up to his most recent probation hearing in March. In response to Busta‘s comments, Vibe is making the entire article available online. The video interview with DJ Enuff is preceeded by the following editor’s note from Vibe, “In light of comments made by Busta Rhymes in a recent YouTube interview (see below), VIBE is posting this feature from our March 2008 issue detailing Busta‘s career and troubles with the law. VIBE made several attempts to contact Busta Rhymes through various channels but was met with a consistent reply of “No comment.”
