After sharing scenes with Quincy Jones and Verne “Mini Me” Troyer, Ludacris is no stranger to unlikely collaborations. The rapper and actor will continue that trend when he joins former Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee for Discovery Networks‘ reality show Battleground Earth. Variety.com reports that the unlikely pairing will air between late July and early August. During the episode the two music stars will be pitted against each other in a series of eco-friendly challenges which promote environmental awareness.

This year should also see Ludacris in no less than two films. The Disturbing Tha Peace founder will drop his alias and join Rosanna Arquette and Nick Cannonas the character Julius in the upcoming basketball drama Ball Don’t Lie. Ludacris will also appear in Guy Richie‘s ensemble action film RocknRolla in November.

Lastly, Ludacris is teaming up with Miami’s DJ Khaled, who will serve as A&R on his upcoming, as-yet-untitled album. “I’m A&R for the new Ludacris album, and we’re gonna make sure that’s real big,”Khaled tells HipHopDX. Khaled, who recently inked is own deal with Def Jam for his We The Best label, also adds that he’s not fazed by the current sales slump plaguing most artists. “The climate is not the same, but there’s different avenues for getting money. That’s why ringtones and iTunes are so big right now. Somebody just has to find a way where all of that can connect with the sales.”
