Don Imus wasted no time getting back to his old ways after an eight month layoff over the now infamous “nappy headed ho” comment, blasting black comedians who championed the shock jock’s offensive remarks.

Damon Wayans
and DL Hughley have both made public jokes about Imus’ comments, implying that his critique of the Rutgers women’s basketball team was accurate.

“None of us should say it,”Imus said of the comments he made. “[Wayans and Hughley] should talk to those women at Rutgers if they want to know how they feel about it. It was demonstrated to these young women that there are consequences to what you say.”

Hughley appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in May defending Imus’ right to free speech and co-signed his remarks that cost Imus his job.

“[Imus] called them nappy headed hoes, and they weren’t hoes,”Hughley said, “but it was some nappy headed women on that team.”

He went on to add that they “were some of the ugliest women I’ve ever seen in my life,” received with subtle laughter from the audience.

The controversy may have propelled the veteran broadcaster to new heights, as he was named one of the 10 Most Fascinating People of 2007 by Barbara Walters.

During the interview, Imus used the platform as another venue to take a stand against his offensive words.

“I will never say anything in my lifetime that will make any of these young women regret or feel foolish that they accepted my apology or forgave me,” he told ABC’s Barbara Walters.

Despite a multi-million dollar settlement with his old employers CBS, Imus publicly stated that he should have been fired for his actions.
