Playboi Carti’s long awaited Whole Lotta Red album finally has a solid release date — and it’s right around the corner. On Monday night (December 21), Playboi Carti fired off a tweet confirming the project would indeed arrive on Christmas Day (December 25) as Akademiks previously suggested.
The tweet read simply, “12/25 > [lips emoji].”
The 24-year-old rapper also shared the cover art and pre-order link to his Instagram account, writing, “AHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I t0LD U ! I L0v3 u PRE 0RDeR NOW.” The cover art is designed by Art Dealer and intended to be an homage to the now defunct Slash magazine, a punk rock zine based in Los Angeles that ran from 1977 to 1980.
In addition to executive production from Ye, expected guests include Kid Cudi and Travis Scott. His fans began to suspect Whole Lotta Red was headed for a Friday (December 25) release after Art Dealer, who produced Playboi Carti’s “Long Time” track from 2018’s Die Lit, shared an Instagram post hinting Christmas would be the magic day.

Die Lit served as Playboi Carti’s debut studio album and featured numerous guests, including Skepta, Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert, Pi’erre Bourne, Nicki Minaj, Bryson Tiller, Chief Keef, Gunna, Red Coldhearted, Young Thug and Young Nudy.
The 19-track project debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with over 61,000 total album-equivalent units sold in its first week, 5,000 which were pure album sales.
