Fans of the Hip-Hop band The Roots will have to be patient if they’re expecting another album. According to Okayplayer.com, which was co-founded by Roots drummer Ahmir “?uestlove” Thompson, the group’s next LP, entitled Rising Down, is not expected to be released until April of 2008.
This will be the group’s second album under Def Jam, and the work takes its title from the William T. Vollmann book Rising Up and Rising Down: Some Thoughts on Violence, Freedom and Urgent Means. Vollmann describes his work as an “exhaustive collection of historical analysis, contemporary case studies, anecdotes and essays directed to understanding the concept of violence.”
As far the correlation between the author and the band is concerned, The Roots have yet to speak on what will be their eight studio album. The Roots just finished VH1’s Hip-Hop Honors Tour in October, and an exclusive version of the song “Marathon Man,” which was released in September, is currently available on iTunes.
