50 Cent caused an uproar earlier this week when he told his 26.2 million Instagram followers to “vote for Trump.” The Power mogul was apparently bothered by Joe Biden’s proposed tax plan, which would apply a 62 percent top tax rate to New York and New Jersey residents who make over $400,000 a year.
On Tuesday night (October 20), 50 insinuated he would leave the United States if the Democratic presidential nominee wins the election. The comment came with a screenshot of an older post he wrote about not wanting to be “20 Cent” and MSNBC anchor Ari Melber responding, “You getting your news from over there now [Fox News]?! 50 come home.”
He replied in the caption, “@arimelber explain 62% to me. I’m packing my bags everybody that has money is gonna move.”
50 has been on a social media rampage since learning of Biden’s tax plan, posting about it regularly for the past three days. On Wednesday (October 21), the former G-Unit rapper posted another screenshot of a comment from comedian Chelsea Handler who had a brief relationship with 50 in 2009.

Handler wrote, “You used to be my favorite boyfriend,” to which 50 said, “oh my God this is affecting my love life now. @chelseahandler I love ya Gator, don’t let Trump and joe Biden come between us girl.”
50’s Trump endorsement has yielded support from conservative commentator Tomi Lahren, Trump’s senior campaign advisor Katrina Pierson and Candace Owen, leading many of 50’s fans to turn their backs on him.
Some point out how misinformed people seem to be on what the 62 percent tax rate actually means for every day Americans. As author Fredrick Joseph explained on Twitter, “I’m happy @oldmanebro is talking about 50 Cent endorsing Trump on the radio. A lot of you are aligning with 50 because of the implications of Biden’s tax plans. 1. Y’all don’t make enough to be taxed more 2. Taxing the wealthy more helps YOU 3. The wealthy are gaslighting you.”
