Noted producer and documentary filmmaker Qunicy “QD3” Jones III is working on what he calls “an unflinching documentary examining the prevalence of violence in Hip-Hop.” The work, entitled, Who Shot Ya, is currently in production and should be released sometime in 2008. QD3 says the film will feature prominent artists discussing their personal
experiences on being shot and will also address the issue of the
disproportionate impact gun violence has on minorities. Jones is best known for his direct-to-video Beef series as well as the Tupac Shakur biography Thug Angel.

Who Shot Ya will be the first release under Jones’ new partnership with Genius Products, a company that the Weinstein Co. has a 70 percent ownership stake in. The deal with Genius products calls for at least two original titles per year. In addition to Who Shot Ya, QD3 is also currently developing a film adaptation of Robert Greene’sThe 48 Laws of Power.
