The rise and fall of Michael Vick is a modern day tragedy that rivals any drama Shakespeare ever put to paper.
Today, the former Atlanta Falcons quarterback pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges involving a dog fighting ring Vick financed under the guise of a dog breeding kennel.
In a statement of facts that accompanied the plea, Vick admitted to playing a role in the killing of dogs that did not perform well during “tests.” The methods of death, as previously reported included hanging and drowning.
The judge in the case, Henry Hudson, accepted Vick‘s guilty plea, telling Vick to be prepared to accept the consequences for his actions.

He also took time out to apologize to fans, detractors and his old teammates.
“I was ashamed and totally disappointed in myself, to say the least. I want to apologize to all the young kids out there for my immature acts. What I did was very immature, so that means I need to grow up,” he said after entering his guilty plea.
During the press conference, Vick also said he’s found Jesus and is turning his life over to God.
Vick also issued a personal apology to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Unfortunately, Vick‘s issues do not end with his guilty plea.
In addition to an indefinite suspension from the league, the Atlanta Falcons will try to recoup a reported $22 million in bonuses paid to Vick after signing a ten year deal worth more than $100 million.
Vick‘s sentencing hearing is Dec. 10.
