With more artists opting to go solo these days, Hip Hop fans often miss out on tracks where a handful of emcees step in the booth to spit a sixteen over one beat . For Hip Hop connoisseurs, this is known as “the posse cut.” While some of the more famous tracks coming from east coast emcees like The Symphony and Scenario, the bottom of the map now has a posse cut in the new millennium to call its own.

DJ Smallz assembled what is perhaps the largest Hip Hop collaboration in history, bringing together thirty (yes, thirty) of Florida’s top emcees for one track. The result is Welcome to the Gunshine State.

“When I went into the studio to produce this record, I wanted to create history,”DJ Smallz said of the feature. “No one in Florida has found a way to unite artists representing all hoods, counties & cities in Florida until now. And i felt like this was a great time for me to release this record with the attention that TJs DJs conference, Ozone Awards, Khaled and Plies were bringing to the State.”

As the Sunshine State gains prominence in the industry again, Smallz wants to ensure that all aspects of the state’s Hip Hop game were represented.

“With all these people paying attention to what’s going on down here, it was my responsibility to the streets to make sure everyone was represented, and this record definitely shows how the whole state can be united. I wanted to show the world how our music is bigger than one city, hood or county. I wanted to extend the Florida movement and show how big the whole State, united, could be.”

Several of the tracks 30 emcees have already seen commercial acclaim including Plies, Jacki-O, Smilezand Southstar, Duece Poppi, J-Shin and Dirtbag.
