After unofficially ex-communicating Atlanta from the south, Pimp C is offering an apology to his fans offended by his statements.

“To all my Atlanta fans and friends, I want to say I apologize for my statement in the Ozone magazine about Atlanta not being the south!! That was a bullshit statement!! Atlanta is and has always been the dirty mthfkn South!!”

The source of the controversy originated from an Ozone magazine article that saw Pimp C go off on a number of industry players including Ne-Yo, Russell Simmons and Lil Troy.

Somehow, the “A” was caught in the cross fire.

“Atlanta is not the South,” he said before adding, “Atlanta is not the South, gotdamn it, when you go to Atlanta what does your clock say? When you get off the plane from Los Angeles or Texas, what time do it be over there? Atlanta is East Coast time. You niggas ain’t in the South.”

He reiterated his comments on an Atlanta radio station a short time after news of the article hit the internet (the interview can be heard here).

Today, Pimp C released the following statement to ATL fans:

“To all my Atlanta fans and friends, I want to say I apologize for my statement in the Ozone magazine about Atlanta not being the south!! That was a bullshit statement!! Atlanta is and has always been the dirty mthfkn South!!”

However, the other half of UGK did not retract all of his statements.

“But the rest of what I said about them pussy ass niggaz is and always will be the truth!”

UGK’s latest album, Underground Kingz drops Aug. 7 and the group will play selected dates on the 2007 Rock the Bells tour.
