The Wu-Tang Clan and Loud.com are teaming up with an online contest which offers the winner a chance open for the legendary group at Rock The Bells in Hawaii. Participants can log on to www.loud.com/rockwithwu and use the site’s unique online recording studio to submit songs using RZA tracks. A staff comprised of Loud.com A&R members will select 10 finalists, and RZA will select the winner himself on August 27. Registration ends August 20, and the winner will recieve travel and accommodations for him/herself and a guest as well as an opening spot for Wu-Tang at the Rock The Bells Festival in Oahu, Hawaii on September 1, 2007.
In addition to promoting Rock The Bells and the upcoming Wu-Tang release 8 Diagrams, the contest celebrates the launch of Loud.com’s new online community. The site offers users the ability to download tracks from such noted producers as Cool & Dre, DJ Khaled and David Banner for 99 cents each. Users can then use a special online recording tool to add vocals to the tracks to create new songs. Contestants can join anytime, with semifinalists being chosen on a weekly basis. The top nine semifinalists will compete in a bracket style tournament until one winner walks away from the tournament with the $100,000 prize.
