Back in the day, it was rare to hear about an emcee retiring. And even today, with legends like KRS-One, Slick Rick, and up until recently, Run DMC rocking the mic up until their 30’s and 40’s, the concept of a rapper “retiring” is almost foreign to Hip Hop. However, the 90’s and the new millennium brought on several retirement announcements such as Jay-Z, Too Short and Master P (all of whom have since come out of retirement).

Recently, The Game announced that his third album will be his last.

Despite only having two other albums under his belt, Game says his contributions to the rap game are “good enough for him.”

“Right now I”m taking a break from Hip Hop and enjoying time with my family and friends and just readying myself for my last album,” he says in the upcoming installment of the Beef series.

He went on to label his two previous albums, The Documentary and Doctor’s Advocate classics and alluded to his third album being a classic as well.

“I think three classic albums is good for me,” he added. “I got my point across. I was a prominent figure on the west coast.. I think I made my impact and you know enough for my name to be said and remembered. Dr. Dre, working with him and him molding me and helping place me as Hip Hop’s elite emcees is good enough to me.”

DX readers, this is your chance to sound off. Has The Game placed himself among the class of Hip Hop’s elite?
