Syndicated shock jocks Opie and Anthony appear to be the latest casualties in post-Imus entertainment. The pair landed themselves a 30 day suspension from XM Satellite radio following a bit about current Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice and a sex act. Both offered an apology for the piece, but made light of the incident during Monday’s show and discussed the state of radio since Don Imus’ “nappy headed ho” comment made headlines. “We’re under the same scrutiny as (National Public Radio) — it doesn’t make sense,” they said on Monday’s show. XM released a statement on the suspension, saying, “comments made by Opie and Anthony on yesterday’s broadcast put into question whether they appreciate the seriousness of the matter. The management of XM Radio decided to suspend Opie and Anthony to make clear that our on-air talent must take seriously the responsibility that creative freedom requires of them.”
