With the dust settling on the Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather fight, a new challenge awaits the Pretty Boy.
During the promotions for the historic fight, Mayweather had some choice words about mixed martial arts fighters, particularly those in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
“UFC’s champions can’t handle boxing. That’s why they are in UFC. Put one of our guys in UFC and he’d be the champion. Any good fighter, he’d straight knock them out,”Mayweather said during pre-fight promotions.
Never one to run from a challenge, UFC President Dana White also had words for Mayweather.

White is prepared to make Mayweather a good offer to get him into the octagon to fight current UFC light heavyweight champion, Sean Sherk. “I promise you, I will make it worth his while. I will make it very worth his while,”White said, while refusing to cite a specific dollar amount.
The Pretty Boy later retracted his comments about UFC saying it was all “hype”, but White and Sherk, who attended Saturday’s bout are not convinced.
“I think [Sherk] left here believing he’d beat the living (expletive) out of the guy if he ever got the chance,” White said of the potential fight.
Sherk also feels confident that he’d defeat Mayweather in an MMA bout.

“I don’t think that fight would last longer than a minute, to be honest with you,”Sherk told NBC. “And I don’t think should be talking about something that he can’t back up, because I’ll fight him tomorrow. I literally would, if they called and asked me to fight Floyd Mayweather, Jr. tomorrow, it’s done. He’s not going to fight me though, and he’s just running his mouth. I don’t really respect that a whole lot.”
