Missy Elliott’s 2002 Under Construction single “Work It” seems to be the inspiration behind the marketing copy of Pottery Barn’s push for their line of sofas and sectionals.

“Flip It, Switch It, Reverse It,”  Pottery Barn’s small spaces section reads with a subtle twist in reference to Missy’s multi-platinum selling record. The price tag for the flexible sofas meant for studio apartments ranges from $499 to $4,699.

The original words to “Work It” are “Is it worth it? Let me work it/I put my thing down, flip it and reverse it,” before it famously plays back in reverse.
