Since the announcement, TIDAL pledged to not stream their projects until the issue is settled. Shortly thereafter, Tommy Boy decided to completely halt the release of the albums.
“Because Tommy Boy has not had the opportunity to sit down together with De La Soul and finalize our negotiations — something we’ve wanted to do for months — we have decided to postpone the digital release of their catalog scheduled for tomorrow,” the label said in a statement. “We know fans are eager to hear these amazing recordings and we are hopeful for a quick resolution.”

One Hip Hop star that 2 Chainz wishes he could have gotten on the project was JAY-Z, but it seems like the timing wasn’t right.
“He’s my favorite. I’d love to work with him,” he said on The Breakfast Club. “I tried to get him on this album. He said, ‘Maybe next album.’ We’ll get it going. You know, I love what he did on Meek’s project. I love that Pusha record he did. There’s a few Ross records I like. There’s a few Jeezy records I like … So, he’s just busy on other people’s stuff.”

DJ E Feezy, who was there as Future’s DJ for the evening, came to his defense.
“First off, the big girl who said that said the promoter said that,” he explained. “That’s a problem with a lot of Miami promotors in that y’all don’t want big girls in the club. Sometimes y’all barely want black girls in the club and y’all black. Now what happens is, because you blame it on another nigga ’cause you don’t want the big girls in your section, now it’s all over the fuckin’ blogs.”

Maseo of De La Soul spoke with HipHopDX about what’s going on behind the scenes in their much-publicized dispute with Tommy Boy Records.
“This is exposing the truth of the situation at least,” Maseo told DX. “At the end of the day, we all take a hit whether we are the good guy or the bad guy in the situation. I was careful enough to say it’s not everybody. All we ask is to be fair. For what we’ve been able to sustain … look, Tom lost the catalog. And losing the catalog, I could have potentially lost my career. Between now and then, look what I’ve been able to sustain.”
