New York City, NY

New York City rapper Lansky Jones is preparing to drop his debut LP Dangerfield, which features appearances from CJ Fly, Bodega Bamz, Wiki, and more. In celebration of Valentine’s Day, his latest taste of the LP, “Lo” featuring Odd Future member Left Brain, a song he says is about the never-ending cycle of promiscuity in toxic (romantic) relationships.

“Left Brain comes to New York every so often and we go on these musical binges, overnight sessions in the studio just working,” he tells HipHopDX about the collaboration.

“Two years ago I played it for him and sung the melody. He was like ‘oh shit! That’s crazy I got you.’ The melody I had just sounded like fuckin magic whenever I sang it, can’t explain it really. Left just met me halfway,” he explains.

According to Jones, he sat on the record for two years. “After we finished the original, I held onto it [for two years], then Bae Bro — who executive produced my upcoming album — added a whole new dimension to it, adding layer upon layer of keys.”
