Ludacris‘ father passed away this Sunday in Atlanta, Georgia.
The family, which declined to elaborate on what caused this tragic death, has released a statement in hopes of privacy in this difficult time.
“We thank you for your prayers and hope you will understand our need for privacy during this sorrowful time,” the statement read.
The statement also added gratitude for the amount of support they have gotten.

At this year’s Grammy Awards ceremony, Ludacris dedicated the award for Best Rap Album to his father, who was at the time, suffering from an illness and fighting to stay alive.
