Famed boxer Mike Tyson was a recent guest on Real 92.3’s Big Boy’s Neighborhood radio show where he opened up about the night Tupac Shakur was shot. When asked about his last memory of ‘Pac, Tyson was momentarily tongue-tied and started to tear up before he could answer.
Tyson divulged the last time he saw the late Hip Hop luminary was after the Bruce Seldon fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996. ‘Pac was Tyson’s VIP guest that evening.
“He was very happy after the fight,” he said. “He came to a press conference with me. We was just talking a bunch of shit. I went home and then he left.”
Tyson heard about the shooting while he was at home. Shortly after leaving the venue, ‘Pac was shot four times at the intersection of East Flamingo Road and Koval Lane with former Death Row CEO Suge Knight at the wheel. He was rushed University of Nevada Medical Center and died six days later on September 13.

The decorated fighter recalled being frustrated he wasn’t able to visit ‘Pac in the hospital before his passing.
He later added, “It’s very difficult to talk about. Young kid that wanted to be great and then that happened.”
Tyson and ‘Pac were close friends throughout the ’90s.
