Deerfield Beach, Florida

More details are slowly starting to emerge in the fatal shooting of XXXTENTACION, who was killed on Monday (June 18).

According to the Sun-Sentinel, X’s attorney David Bogenschutz believes the Broward County, Florida native was targeted in a “random robbery.”

“I think he went to the bank before it happened,” Bogenschutz said. “I think the determination was that he wanted to buy a motorcycle. But [detectives] aren’t discounting any theory.”

The 20-year-old rapper, who was working on his third studio albumSkins, was at RIVA Motorsports in Deerfield Beach when two gunman ran up on him and fired shots at his black BMW i8, striking him. The suspects reportedly fled in a black Dodge Journey.

X was rushed to Broward Health North’s Level 1 trauma unit where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

TMZ reported that one of the alleged gunmen wore a red mask and a Louis Vuitton bag was stolen from X’s vehicle.

A candlelight vigil is being planned for Tuesday night (June 19) near the scene of the crime. Fans have already started to gather outside of the motorcycle dealership where X was a frequent customer. [apple_news_ad type=”any”]
