There are a number of Hip Hop/R&B debuts on the Billboard 200 albums chart this week, most notably Big Sean and Metro Boomin’s Double or Nothing project and Quality Control’s compilation, Control The Streets Vol. 1.
Elsewhere, Juicy J’s latest solo offering also hits the chart, while Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. jumps up five places to #11 thanks to a 32% increase in sales for the week ending December 14.
Double Or Nothing Lands At #5
Big Sean and Metro Boomin’s collaborative album, Double or Nothing, debuted at #5 on the charts this week after moving 50,437 total album equivalent units. The project hasn’t been well received though, with HipHopDX’s Editor-In-Chief Trent Clark having this to say in his review: “With the exception of the 21 Savage-featuring ‘Pull Up N Wreck,’ which packs a massive beat, none of the records indicate there’s enough chemistry between the two All-Star artists to deserve a full-length offering.”

Quality Control’s Migos-Heavy Project Impresses
Quality Control’s compilation, Control The Streets Vol. 1, reached the #6 slot during its first week on the charts. The 30-track project, which features the now infamous “Ice Tray” diss aimed at Joe Budden — which Lil Yachty insists stems from boredom, not beef — moved 48,222 total album equivalent units during its first week.
Juicy J’s Rubba Band Business Album Falls Short
Juicy J’s long-delayed LP, Rubba Band Business: The Album, debuted at a disappointing #191 on the Billboard 200 albums chart this week. The project, which features guest appearances from Wiz Khalifa, Travis Scott and Ty Dolla $ign, moved 5,859 total album equivalent units. Despite its poor commercial performance, DX gave the Memphis pioneer’s album a respectable 3.6 out of 5.
