The recent allegations against Russell Simmons have reportedly attracted the attention of the New York Police Department’s Special Victims Unit.

According to TMZ, the Def Jam Recordings co-founder is now being investigated by NYPD detectives from the SVU following at least seven claims of sexual misconduct. As part of their investigation, they’ve started to reach out to Simmons’ alleged victims.

Simmons continues to deny the allegations made against him and has even launched the #NotMe campaign on social media to further assert his innocence.

“Today, I begin to properly defend myself,” Simmons wrote on Thursday (December 14). “I will prove without any doubt that I am innocent of all rape charges. Today, I will focus on “The Original Sin” (Keri Claussen), the claim that created this insane pile on of my #MeToo. Stay tuned! We’ll share information today… And tomorrow the case of Jenny Lumet.”
