A couple months ago Raekwon‘s camp reported that he was basically on the Aftermath roster. All that needed to take place was a contract signing, but anyone who knows this business will tell you that all that talk means nothing ’til the t’s are crossed and the i’s are dotted.
According to Wu-Tang Corp. The Chef has put his John Hancock on the dotted line and made it officially, his highly anticipated Only Built For Cuban Linx 2 will be released on Dr. Dre‘s powerhouse Aftermath Entertainment. A statement on the site read, “Rae isn’t taking this album lightly and it will be released on Aftermath Records, not on the Wu Music Group as originally scheduled. It will be an instant classic!“
The move certainly seems to make sense for Rae, as Dr. Dre has a reported half of the production duties (along with The RZA), and fellow Aftermath artist Busta Rhymes will serve as an Executive Producer on the project. Reports earlier said the LP would be out in 2006, but given that Rae is still putting some finishing touches on the album it is unlikely to hit the shelves this year.
